[culture] 七月半 the Ghost Festival

The Ghost Festival refers to the 15th of the 7th lunar month. It is called Zhongyuan Festival in Taoism, Ullambana in Buddhism. The Ghost Festival is its folk name. It is believed that the gate of hell opens on that day; hence, ghosts go back this world. Some ghosts enjoy the incense from their decedents, while those homeless wander around to look for food. To prevent the homeless ghosts from scourging this world, large-scale sacrifice ceremony is held on that day.
